Shaikh Abu Noman Tarek has been serving as an Imam, Teacher, Chaplain, Educator and Consultant in Canada for over 10 years in different religious and educational institutions.
In his role as an Imam and leader he has been successfully managing evening schools, kids clubs, youth groups, workshops, Eid and Friday khutbas, regular halaqas, interfaith dialogues, family counseling, social motivation projects and support groups for new Muslims to the community etc. All of these activities that go beyond the traditional role of an Imam have allowed him to become “the people’s Imam”.
Imam Tarek holds 3 Bachelor degrees in 1) Islamic Studies specialized in Hadith, 2) Literature, Arts & History, and 3) Computer Science & Engineering, a Masters degree in Ulumul Hadith, and a Diploma in Qura’nic Science as well as in Arabic language. He received both his traditional and academic learning in Bangladesh and other renowned universities in other parts of the world including Canada. He is a publisher of bdislam.com and contributes to different news papers.
In 2011, he was nominated for “Strong Role Model – Peacemaker Award” for his outstanding work for different communities.
Currently he is doing MA in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy and researching of “Prophetic Psychotherapy and Islamic Counseling“. He works as a counselor at the Delton Glebe Centre, Waterloo. He is also founder and co-ordinator of Muslim Social and Welfare Services of Greater Hamilton. He is an active member of the Canadian Council of Imams. Sheikh Tarek is married and blessed with a daughter.
